Janesville – Shirley Irene Butt, 65, went to be with her heavenly father on Sunday, Sept. 29 at Mercy Hospital. She was born in Elkhorn, WI on January 25, 1948 to Ronald and Beulah (Moyer) Brotz. She married Dennis Gordon Butt on August 20, 1966 in Whitewater, WI.

She was a recently retired LPN and private duty nurse. She was an avid gardener, 4-H and NJHA leader and supporter of FFA. She hosted great parties at the apple orchard, liked to play games and talk with friends on her computer and was very proud of her grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by two daughters, Debbie Gegare of Janesville and Denyce LaMantia (Michael) of Thomson, Georgia, granddaughter Lexi Gegare, grandson Michael Williams and his mother Tammy all of Janesville. Two sisters, Rhonda Robbins, Waukesha and Jeanine (John) Pankhurst, Janesville, mother-in-law Pearl Butt, Janesville, two brother-in-laws, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis, her son Dwayne, her parents, one sister Nancy Smelcer and her father-in-law Alvin Butt.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 3, from 5pm – 7pm at Henke Clarson Funeral Home, Janesville. Funeral services will be Friday, October 4 at 11am at Cooksville Lutheran Church, 11927 W. Church Rd, Evansville, with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Cooksville Lutheran Church Assistance Fund.
